The Just in Time reBlending is an EU Leonardo da Vinci project that will be developed with nine partners from five EU-countries. The duration of the project is 24 months 1.10.2005 - 30.9.2007.
Background
Communication and interaction is for EU an important competition factor on the global market. Surveys and experience of daily business in EU show that citizans need new ways to learn. The needs are especially visible in companies and in vocational education including learning-on-the-job. The goal for reBlending is to create and develop new ICT solutions and methods for mobile reBlended learning.
Mobile devices - solutions
New information technology especially mobile devices, offer better possibilities to learn on-the-job than localized teaching and opens new possibilities to enhance the interaction between actors. Intelligent learning and automated tutoring tools (such as web-based and mobile devices) are required for teaching and tutoring employees as well as students learning on-the-job in SMEs.
German language - problems
Germany with its 82 Million consumers is important business player in Europe and therefore needs of German language is a competition factor. The German Chambers of Commerce (Sweden, France, Estonia and Finland) are in daily contact with SMEs doing business with Germany and are able to verify the lack of German skills. Learners perceive the language as difficult and the methods to teach German as discouraging and less inspiring. Learners of German language do not either benefit from being surrounded by the language in every day situations, as is the case with English. Furthermore, the new EU countries increase the need of the use of German. Learning German language with using the new devices is the innovation of this project.
